The Corrogard® range of products are user and environmentally ‘friendly’ and consist of a combination of contact and vapour phase corrosion inhibitors. Corrogard® is different from normal rust prevention coatings in that they are water based or water dispersible and contain no oil, solvents (except Corrogard® SB which is still oil free but diluted in solvents) or other harmful materials. They are non-hazardous and are outside the scope of the Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) emission regulations of the Environment Protection Act.

Corrogard® protects in two ways, by direct contact with metal parts which have been coated by brush, dip, spray, etc. and allowed to dry, secondly by the inhibitor vapours (only applicable in some products) which are slowly released from the coating or the liquid as supplied.

It should be noted that the vapours can only function if they are appropriately confined inside a suitable container, package or other space to allow the concentration of the inhibitor vapours to build up to the required level.

Corrogard®, through its vapour action, enables remote, otherwise inaccessible areas not contacted by the liquid to be protected without the need to coat parts. The protective can be sprayed or fogged into such items as packing cases, tanks, pressure vessels, tubing, metal sections, etc. which can be capped or wrapped to retain the vapours.

It is important to note however, that superior protection is achieved where parts can be coated and dried. This method is recommended for the protection of small items prior to packing. The coating is almost undetectable and does not have to be removed when parts are put into service.

1. Corrogard® coatings exceed requirements for the modified military humidity test.
2. Corrogard® coatings pass Humidity chamber test (ASTM Humidity Test, D1735).
3. Corrogard® SG will surpass Salt fog test into the 300hour range (ASTM B-117).
